In May 2014, the Sino-American Business & Travel Association planned and held a personal calligraphy exhibition and national quintessence performance “traveling through time and space, transcending national boundaries” for Xiong Feng, a well-known Chinese calligrapher, in Philadelphia. Through calligraphy lectures, television interviews, media dialogues, and live brushstroke performances, Xiong Feng had extensive exchanges with the local society and brought the Chinese culture represented by calligraphy into mainstream American society. During the exhibition, Zhong Ruiming, then Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of New York, Consul Yang Zerui of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Group, and Director of the Foreign Exchange Bureau of the City of Philadelphia were invited

Chinese calligraphy was officially registered as a “World Intangible Cultural Heritage” in 2009 and has become more and more popular. Xiong Feng believes that the Japanese recognize calligraphy as a text, while Americans appreciate calligraphy as a graphic and art. Chinese culture has a great moral commitment. If Chinese culture is to go to the world, Americans must know, understand, and worship it. Nowadays, there are no less than a hundred famous painters in the United States, but there are very few calligraphers of weight. The classic inscriptions created by Xiong Feng in the form of “Linshu” allowed Americans to see works that are only available in museums. Xiong Feng engaged in calligraphy creation and teaching activities in Japan, promoted Chinese culture, went to the United States to do important cultural displays, introducing the unique art of calligraphy to American society. He is always full of cultural self-confidence.

Xiong Feng has been in Japan for many years and is very determined in promoting the art of Chinese calligraphy. He once taught calligraphy on NHK TV in Japan. In 2010, he served as the “Chinese Character Art Director of the Japan National Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo” and inscribed “Connection” for the Japan Pavilion; in 2013, he became a representative of the “9th World Outstanding Chinese Youth China Trip”, writing the “Chinese Dream” on behalf of outstanding overseas youth. He once presented the calligraphy work “Glory” to the great footballer Bailey, and in August 2012, he wrote "Thai and China as a family with Princess Sirindhorn in Thailand. Xiong Feng said that overseas Chinese need a cultural root, that is, “Chinese character feelings”, and it is his responsibility to convey the charm of Chinese character culture. With the help of successful experience in Japan, he hopes to bring the “Chinese dream” to the United States and around the world through Chinese calligraphy.
